Adding A/C to 1969 164 140-160

As I posted sometime previously about AC in a 140 series car, I am in the process of doing the same thing with a 71 142. However, I got hung up with the front pully change. I have the dual pulley to replace the stamped single pulley but when I took the timing cover off I realized that a new cam gear is needed. I purchased a new Sandon 508 compressor and a new full flow condensor along with a new drier and expansion valve. Total cost about $400 plus another $60 for hoses and fittings. All the mentioned items will work with 134A but since I am using an evaporator from a junk car I will put in R 12 to begin with since it has better overall cooling characteristics and I horded some. With use of 134A the old condensors won't disipate the heat very well unless one is driving at higher speeds. Being stopped in traffic may reqire an electric fan addition.

My suggestion is to go to some of the AC sites for info before you start. http://www.vintageair.com/is a good place to start since they are in the business of adding AC to old cars.
