From running great to smoking like crazy in 5 seconds flat 200 1983

The odessey continues... I finally got my '83 244ti running right just yesterday. I was tweaking things and setting it up to factory intercooled boost level, and had just shut the car off after driving the car around for 20 minutes or so. I let the car cool down for 10 minutes or so, then started it again, and the thing billowed blue smoke at idle. Massive amounts of blue smoke. The smoke went away after running for a couple of minutes, but while driving it, it was smoking noticeably under hard throttle. Then when I drove it back to the shop again, and let it idle to cool down, it started smoking like mad again. Frustrated, I shut it down and left.

I haven't done much checking to find the culprit, but the intercooler pipe coming out of the turbo only has a light coat of oil in it, which didn't even feel wet, so it could have been old anyway. This pretty much eliminates the chance of the turbo being at fault in my mind. I don't know where the hell the oil is coming from but theres a lot of it for sure. Its coming out of the exhaust pipe, so its not just leaking oil ending up on hot exhaust pipes or anything. BTW the car starts fine. So any ideas whats going on? I'm stumped. Thanks for the help.
