Is the compressor shot? 200 1987

George, you have given me an idea. If the problem with the compressor is that things such as reed valves are gummed up perhaps a shot of oil may help. I have a 4oz can and am thinking of shooting in about half of it.

I put in a little over 1 can but of course no more can go in because the system low side is at same pressure as the can. At that point I should think that the compressor running would drop the the low side pressure to allow freon to keep going in. This does not happen. The pressure (high and low) just stays put when I start the compressor.

Understand your comment about sucking in air. What is your opinion on the oil? BTW the compressor turns normally by hand, I cant feel anything unusual as I turn it.
