neophyte electric fan testing and rewiring 700

which is the ground and which is the hot? I have a 1985 745t, so I can't realy tell just looking at the temp sensor (its in the middle of the hose behind the rediator) since both wires hook-up there. I imagine the grey/red is the hot?

I'll hoot it directly at the fan itself (to the battery off that short fan wire), but teh wires are the same color everywhere....

Also, if I get a new Nissens three row I've heard that the radiator has a hole for teh temp sensor. Does it make sense to move it from teh hose positing if I've never had a problem? If I move it from the hose position or just leave it, will I hve an open hole somehwere that I have to cover/patch? Does the radiator come with a cover for that hole should I decide not to use it?

Thanks for teh post.
