Overdrive problems. 200 1986

I'm back again heh.
Filled up the tranny with fluid and it didnt seem to fix the problem like i thought it would, i searched around in the archives for a similar problem but i havent been able to find one. the problem is in a 86 240 dl wagon, manual transmission. When i try to engage the over drive, it does one of two things, most of the time it doesn't catch, but if i take my foot off the accelerator the rpms drop to where they should be if the over drive were engaged, Or it will catch and the overdrive will work for a few seconds and then slip back out. The green overdrive light remains on, and when the car is off, i can hear a click when i press the overdrive button (when it is in fourth). I greatly appreciate help anyone can provide.
