Auto Overdrive Malfunction 200 1990

I have a 90 240 wagon with 199k miles on it. Recently it began shifting in and out of overdrive (though the dash light never came on) after about 15 minutes of driving. Now it won't even get into overdrive from start up. The fluid level is fine. I tried to change the fluid and filter however, but could not get the drain hose bolt to budge. Does anyone have any suggestions on what this could be? Should I also check the OD relay?
