Is the compressor shot? 200 1987

George:
Shot in a bit of oil and all of a sudden I had suction (negative psi as you predicted) and some pressure on the high side. Proceeded to add more freon and very suddenly it stopped sucking and compressing. My conclusion is the compressor is flakey and I agree that a reed valve is the most likely cause. You said that you had a similer experience and that after running it for a while it started to work. How long did you run it?
Thinking of removing the compressor and having a look behind the head at the reed valve(s). Anyone ever done this? What about the belt bypass so my daughter can have power steering in the meantime, It seems the IPD kit is for older 240's.

Appreciate any and all help or info on this, she is reaaly complaining about the heat and i promised here working AC on her birthday.
