Wait.....Wait......Wait 200 1987

I read your answer:

"Belts on, clutch not energized and of course engine off (I like my fingers) I am turning the most forward part of the compressor assembly. This turns the internal works of the compressor and it turns easily with a slight spongy like resistance which I think is normal."

By the most forward part of the compressor do you mean the circular part that spins only when the clutch is engaged, and is otherwise stationary?

Never have I attempted to turn that piece, so I don't know what you should feel by doing so. If there is 70psi in the system, I would think that the resistance to finger-turning would be substantial.

When Volvo moved on from the York compressor into Diesel-KiKi and Sanden and Delco, I fell back in technical studies. York? I know them well. The newbies? I'll have to study more.

Wait, here's an idea: Have you checked to see that the expansion valva isn't stuck open?

Good Luck,

Bob
