Engine revs up and down slowly and sometimes cuts out on initial startup 700

i had a similar problem on my 85 760.....it drove me nuts. every time i would start the car dead cold, it would surge and sometimes shut off, or come close to it. it turned out to be the compressor by-pass valve. its the valve bolted to the cylinder head on the passanger side of the car, with hoses going to the rubber intake tubes. the diahram was bad, so i took it off, and the valve was in peices. It solved my surging and boost problems. you can pull them off of any B230FT. I would get a gasket at the dealer for it though, unless you are good at making them. Good luck.

(the head had come of the stem in the valve in case you wonderded, and blocked the inlet to the valve)
