1985 740 Turbo with Turbo Plus option 700 1985

I am the original owner of a 1985 740 Turbo. In 1986, Volvo introduced a "Turbo Plus" kit which I purchased as a dealer-installed option. The resulting improvement in performance was immediately noticeable.

However, I have never understood exactly what the Turbo Plus kit is (in terms of mechanical and/or electrical componentry) although I understand that it allows for extra turbo boost at full throttle.

The reason I am asking about it is that I do not feel that the Turbo Plus is currently functional. The turbo guage presently shows full boost up to the limit of the green at full throttle; however, the guage used to show boost a bit into the yellow when the Turbo Plus was functional.

Anyone have any experience or ideas regarding this?
