Running Very Rough 200 1993

I have a 1993 240 with the B230F engine. The car was running just fine until I decided to clean the engine to search for an oil leak. I used a foaming type spray and rinsed the engine with a hose. The engine is now nice and clea BUT it now runs like crap. It idles so rough it looks like the engine wants to jump righ out of the car. I can pump the gas and smooth out the idle but if I try to drive it it feel like I have a weed wacker motor under the hood. I let the car sit for three days to help dry it out and its still the same .I checked the codes and got a 2-1-4 "engine speed sensor faulty" I then tested it through the input sensor mode and it showed ok. I have a feeling that I have literelly hose my engine. Can anyone help.
