Tired? 700 1987

I don't call 200K tired. It's broken in! I've got 290K miles on mine and it still runs well.

Surging is caused by a vacuum leak, most likely at the intake manifold gasket. Look around the edges of the manifold at the head for any small protusions of gasket. Since the air is compressed, the gasket can fail under pressure.

As for oil leaks, there is an O-ring between the oil cooler adapter and the block. They leak due to age. Also check the oil pan bolts. The distributor O-rings also fail causing leaks down the back of the block. It looks like a failed rear main seal.
