Loose Washer on Front Stuts 700 1991

Could someone tell which way the loose washer should be position in the front strut assembly for a 1991 Volvo 745? The washer and bearing assembly fell out as I was pulling the springs off the stut. The new FAQ mentions the loose washer and the importance of it being assemble properly but not how it should be assemble. Chilton manual was of no help.

PS. This loose washer is cuped and thus it does make a difference in how it goes in. Should it be cuped up ie. like a bowl facing up or cuped down ie. like a bowl turned upside down.
