Tailgate Wire Repair 200 1992

Hello Folks, I just wanted to let you all in on my recent success story. Thanks for all your previous posts within the archives that helped me out. Since my electric lock on the tailgate was not working and the wires were worn out, I decided to attempt to fix them. After a quick trip to RadioShack, I was set with solder, soldering iron, flux, and rubber coated test lead wire. For the most part the repairs were uneventful. I am truely a novice solderer, but things went well. Overall it took me about 2 hours to repair the damaged wires on both hinges. I took the easy method and pulled the damaged wires up into the head liner, then fixed them up there. The only negative I experienced was that one of my hinges began to leak in some rain water a day or two later. So I disassembled them again and inserted some plumber's putty around the holes for the hinges. Problem solved. Thanks again to everyone on the board who has taken the time to post their previous repairs! All that information really made the job go nicely.
