Unwanted 'Disengaging 4th Gear' 200

My 240 wagon seems to somehow go into the "Disengaged 4th Gear" mode without me hitting the little buttom on the side of the shifter. It then takes many times or playing with the button to turn it off or I have to pull over turn the car off and then start and go again. Is there some way to 100% disengage the "Desengagin" mechanisim? I never need to limit the car to 3 gears and would not have to worry about driving at high RPM for nothing again. Appreciate any tips. Thanks!
