no, you just open the trunk or back of the car, remove the access panels, pull out the light brackets (1/4 turn and the holders pop out) and then remove the lighting assembly brackets, etc.

Once you know what your doing it takes like 10 minutes or so. Shouldn't take you more than a half hour max. Just remember not to force anything, and take your old unit to the junkers if you go to scrounge for one. Different years can have different lighting systems, so you want to compare any part ou pull to your existing one.
