tranny swap question 200

i've got a 262c with a v6 and a trashed 3 speed auto AW55. the bellhousing appears to bolt on to the body of the trans. can i use a 4 speed auto AW71 from a diesel or 4 cylinder or v6? i am assuming the bellhousing bolts on to the AW71 also, and that the bolt pattern matches on the tranny side of the bellhousing. am i correct in any of this?
