Can't get tinted windows to pass inspection.

Try another inspection agency. Fact: The trashier the inspection station looks the better chance you have of passing anything. Don't forget, you will have to pay an extra $10.00 for the use of the light meter in NC if you have non-factory tinted windows.

Here, in NC, I had to scrape off the front (sides) window tint from my wife's MV that was applied in Florida. Comes off with a razor scraper. You can also spray water on the window tint and place a plastic trash bag over it to slow evaporation. Spray the window as many times necessary over a period of several hours to 24 hours to help soften the glue under the plastic tint. You will still need a razor scraper. (The "water+trash bag+hours" is a must for windows with defoggers and antennas on the window surface.)

I recently had my 945's windows tinted at the OBX, Kitty Hawk, Metro Storm Protection and Tint. They did a good job at just under $200 with 3M material. I had "NC legal" installed in the front and the next shade darker on the other windows. NC legal is 35% light permeability and this seams very light. My guess, to re-tint the front windows with legal, $30-$35 each.
