stalling and reving randomly 700 1990

Hi,

It may be your idle control motor. I've known that mine was dieing for a few months now. Yesterday morning I was greeted by a dead battery when I went to start my Vo. I boosted it, and stopped by my Vo mechanic's to ask him if he could help me figure out why my battery was dead. We couldn't find anything wrong other then my alt belt was a little loose, so we tightened it. When I started the car back up it was idling around 1300 RPM (engine was @ operating temp). My mechanic came back over with a puzzled look, revved the engine once or twice and the idle remained high. Then he unpluged the wires to the idle motor; the RPMs dropped to around 500. He plugged it back in and it went back up to around 1300 or so. So we figure my idle motor must have finely died :( It's was progressively worse today, so I'm going to have a good used one installed tomorrow and hopefully that will fix the problem. My symptoms are similar to yours. I've had my throttle body cleaned reciently. Oh, and I figured out this morning that I also need a new battery because mine seems to no longer hold charge overnight :( My Vo and I are still friends though :)
