Still @ a loss on the charge indicator light staying on. Anyone had the issue? 700 1987

NA 740 gle

When I first start the car, I have NO instrumentation @ all. Not until I rev the engine a bit do I get anything. Normally, I get the temp gauge & the tach (which is WAY off base) when I rev the engine. They stay on until I shut the ignition off. It happens without fail though, that the batt. light comes on @ the same time. Normally, I get the shift indicator as well though I have a zf trans in this car.


*) No gauges till rev engine, then get batt charge light (system charge is fine)
1) fuel gauge is way off base when it works
2) speedo is way off when works
3) tach is way off (usually works)
4) temp is correct & works fairly religiously after revving when started.
5) clock works without fail (not in same circuit, I know, but giving all details I can think of)

Anyone delt with an issue simular?
Any suggestions @ all would be greatly appreciated.
