just tell me I didn't hurt my brick... 700

brickers:

so I installed some sidemarker lights on my 745t today and pulled a moron move.

I kept the manifold/grill (in front of the window) off the car after I was finished to fix it overnight (plan to reinstall it tomorrow). Forgetting that there is a grounding strap that affixes to the middle bolt from the cam cover (woven metal strap), I turned the car over when I finished with the wiring to rejuice the battery a bit.

The car started a little sluggishly and seemed to struggle to maintain idle. I quickly realized my mistake (like within ten seconds of turning it over) and turned the car off, but I'm worried I may have hurt somethin with my oversight.

What does that grounding strap do, and did I injure anything by turning the car on with it unsecured? It sounded fine accept for taking a few rotations to get up to idle in the ten seconds it was on, but might anything have happened in the meantime?

Hoping it doesn't matter. Thanks in advance for any help.

-Rick
