A/C compressor fail again? 700 1989

Greetings,
Have 89 760 turbo wagon, recently , several warn lights on dash came on intermitently and a/c stopped blow cold. Having had compressor replaced a few years ago i assumed electrical problem, checked voltage at batt terminals with vehicle runnining , reads only 12.5 volts , sounded low had checked with batt/ charger tester said alternator weak, replaced with rebuilt and metered volts now about 13.6 , ok. Then turned on a/c after about 30 seconds, blow hot , dash lights flashing , then off , etc. etc.
Question, Is this compressor almost seized and drawing big time amps to engage, time to replace after only 5 years?
batt harness fairly new , checked and cleaned grounds, fairly well cared for car
any help appreciated,
Thanks again
