Oil Filter Adapter leak 700 1990

Hello !

My 765 Turbo developed an oil leak from the oil adapter. To be specific it leaks right where this big green O-ring goes. Between thermostatic head for the oil cooler and adapter body. I tried to disassembly it today but as the thermo head slides of the threaded oil filter pipe it hits oil return line from the turbocharger. Here is my question: Is there a safe way to change the o-ring without complete disassembly? I would like to avoid removing the oil line from the turbo as I may not get it back in place. Should I stretch the o-ring to get it over the adapter?
Which way should I go? I count on Your expertise.

Thank you in advance,

Slawomir
