Dark black oil on the spark plugs 200

I bought this 84 volvo 244 dl about a month ago. It was running fine but it would no pass the smog test. I put supreme gas in it and changed the plugs and it passed. The guy at the smog shop said to use autolite plugs so I did. When I took out the old plugs they looked normal maybe they where not old. No oil deposits just chalky white. the autolites a month later have dark oil deposits on them and my car was running very rough. So I put platnum + 4's in it runs great why was there oil on them? normal? please reply....volvo240guy@aol.com
