1992 960 How to Check A/C Compressor ? 900 1992

Hello:
The A/C in my 960 sudenly stopped working. The A/C Compressor does not engage. I wanted to take teh car for recharge, but wanted to check the compressor first. Is there an easy way to do that ? I cannot really see the wires and the space around the compressor is extremely limited...
