940 Turbo Looses Coolant and Stops Running

My '92 940 turbo wagon lost its cooling very suddenly today on the highway at
about 70 mph. The temp guage was pinned almost right away and the car made some odd noises and quit running. I was unable to find the source of the leak. None of the hoses seems to have ruptured and most of the fluid leaking was on the driver's side of the car. When the key is turned the motor will spin freely but it won't catch. Sounds like there is no compression (cam seized perhaps, broken belt? When it cranks some steam comes out of the intake manifold and aslo from the vicinity of the turbo.

Need some theories here.
