dawes device problems, help needed 700

The boost guage I installed by tapping into the vaccum line leading to my stock boost gauge only reads about 5 psi max. I have a dawes device which I installed and the boost stayed the same as it was supposed to. Once I started to adjust the dawes device I haven't noticed much raise in my boost level yet and my car dies after hard acceleration( the rpm's go from around 2500 straight down to close to 0). Shouls I have more stock boost pressure than this in my 1990 760? and what can I do to stop the car from dying after hard acceleration of what is causing the dying.

Thanks in advance, any and all input is greatly appreciated, I hope to get up and running higher boost soon,

Duff
