Fuel sensor 900

I've got a '95 940 wagon with a failed fuel sensor. This is the second fuel sensor to fail in this car. The first one was the original unit and it failed in April '01. I replaced it with an OEM unit and it has failed 13 months to the day. Has anyone out there experienced this type of failure in their 940 or 740? If so, let me know what what caused the problem and if there is anything you have found that can prevent future failures of this relatively expensive part. Thanks guys.
