940 stalls 900 1991

Our family has 940 for nearly 10 years now. It had no problem at all then suddenly last weekend it stalled.
After stopping at traffic light, when I tried to accelerate it just stopped. Tried to start again a few times I was able to start but as soon as I slow down to stop at next light, it stalled again. It seemed fine when it was running. Stalling happened only when the car slowed down below 10-20km/h. Somehow managed to get back home after a few stopping and restarting. Left in garage for 4 hours then took the car around the block. It was running without any trouble.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
