Loud irritating main fuel pump humming.. 700 1985

It's an '85 744T that we've got couple months ago as a project car.Loud main fuel pump persist despite the following.(note, PO has replaced main pump a month
before we bought it).
1.Pulled out fuel sending unit. In- pump working and was tested outside the tank. "sock" is clean.Wiring connectors checked.Fuel lines checked.
2.New Fuel pump relay switch.(Old one soldered and kept for back-up)
3. Fuel pressure regulator replaced.
Now here's the weird part, if I disable the in-pump (by removing #11 fuse
w/c is the in-tank fuse)The main pump stops humming!!!Put the fuse back on
and humming resumes!!!Thanks for the the replies. This is driving me nuts!!
