B234F 16valve advice 700

I have a 1990 GLE with the B234F 16 valve engine which now has 295,000 miles on it.
It is in the shop for the timing belt replacement and I've been told that the most of the pulleys under the timing belt cover have to be replaced, as normal wear and tear on an engine with this kind of mileage.
The shop told me I am in "uncharted" territoy on this engine as it has twice the mileage of any other B234F they work on.
Does anyone have experience with high mileage 16 valve engine and what I should start paying attention to?
By the way..the shop says the oil pressure is fine and I should not worry about replacing the oil pump.
