Starts then dies: cold or warm - Starts & runs fine: hot 200 1983

Greetings! I have just acquired a 153K mile 244 GL turbo which is very wonderful to own after 12 years of my trusty but spartan '71 142S. The 244 is temperamental on cold starts and will often idle so slow as to promptly die. On the other hand, after the car is warmed up, it starts fine and idles properly and remains running without having to re-start. Can someone please point me in the correct direction for troubleshooting this? I am somewhat familiar with the older electronic fuel injection on the 1971-1973 140 series. Thank you!
