The 700 series, and its fraternal twin the 900 series, do suffer from a somewhat high-mounted seat relative to the roof - and it's exacerbated if you have a sunroof. There's a special seat bottom cushion you can get that drops you down a little bit more.
The 200 does offer more headroom. It is also a bit simpler in design and it feels a bit more nimble than the larger 7/9 series. 200s respond very well to suspension upgrades - if you're into performance modifications, you can make a great handler out of ANY 240. The 51%/49% weight distribution makes for a well-balanced chassis.
The 7/9 series is a bit more noseheavy (54%/46%), and they feel a bit larger and more ponderous in their responses, due to their intended mission as more luxury-oriented sedans. However, these too can be modified for surprisingly good roadholding. If you want a quieter, smoother-riding Volvo, pick one of these guys over a 240. They typically have more power options, leather seats, sunroof, etc... and if you want turbo power, the B230Fs found in the 7/9 series are a little more modern in design, and a bit more tractable for everyday driving than the older 240 Turbos.
