Blinker Stinkers 140-160 1974

Help! The blinker indicator lights in the dash are always on faintly. When I flick the directional switch for a right or left turn the indicatot lights both blink. The blinker lights themselves work fine. The flasher does not work at all. No flashing lights and no flashing light when the switch is turned on. But hey the blinkers do stop working. Should I replace the blinker/flasher relay? Or is it the indicator lights themselves? I have also noticed that there are three black wires. Two thin and one thick. Should all of these be connected to the lighter? Thanks
