1st time car buyer want 240 need help! 200 1982

I'm currently looking i'm a first time car buyer and i have alwayz loved 240's. There are two 240's at prices i can afford. All i really need to know is which one is worth buying. One is a 1981 245 auto and slips when starting out in reverse and needs a windshield wiper pump, but otherwise in great shape and runs great. I havent seen any photos or seen the car. It has 184K. IPD gave me a number to a place in az where i can get a rebuilt tranny for about 400bux. The ipd rep also told me personally he wouldnt buy it. The car is priced $395. The second is a 1982 240 in almost perfect condition besides needing new shocks and struts and the drivers seat needs a cover. They say there is no rust but in the pictures it looks a little rusty when the doors are open around the door clasps otherwise it might be dirt also but from what they say and what i can tell by the pictures its in great shape. It has 240K. I'm currently the high bidder for 195.00 and the auction ends on sunday may 19. Ipd told mewhat to look for when picking up the car and what to check for when i got home to see if it was a good deal. Also can someone send me the websites where i can pick up all the books about the car? i cannot find the repair and wireing manauls on volvos site also can someone tell me where to find a mesh grill or how to make one i cant find that anywere either. In the future i would like to drop a V8 and replace everything in except for the body and with the exceptions of custom body kits.. I have estimated that it will cost around 25k on the lean do complete most of the things i would like done. thanx
