ELECTRIC FAN questions 200

Hello all,

I'm thinking about installing an electric fan on my n/a 84 245. I also just read in Paul Grimshaw's VOLVO PERFORMANCE HANDBOOK "there is no practical advantage in replacing the stock beltdriven fan with an electric fan." and also "the stock system provides better cooling at low engine speeds."

If I insall the electric fan and do not get a performance gain, and lose A/C cooling capacity, THAT WOULD SUCK.

If I install the electric fan and get a performance gain, and maintain A/C cooling capacity, I WOULD BE HAPPY.

If I install the electric fan and gain performance, and A/C cooling capacity,
I WOULD BE DANCING IN THE STREET.

What I need from you guys is the TRUE LOWDOWN, what can I expect? I dont want to give up cooling capacity, it gets hot here in the D.C. area in summer, 90+ with high humidity. I almost forgot the fan I am going to use pulls 1950 cfm.
