Back up/reverse light switch 200 1983

Hi all!
Anyone replaced a reverse light/back up light switch? How hard of a job is it considering that it's on top of the tranny and up there in the tunnel? I read in the Haynes manual that this switch was temporarily located on the detent plate in the late 70s. IMHO that would be a more readily accessible area. Wonder if I can still get any of those detent plate mounted switches. Any ideas out there?
Denny
