122 and P1800 differences in '66 120-130

Oliver & Juan;

The diff gearing was also different... 4.56:1 for the 1800 (posi if your lucky), which made for better acceleration off the line and was made up for by the OD at the high end; compared to 4.10 (standard) or 4.30 (automatic) in the 122s. The early sheetmetal trailing arms of the 122 were upgraded to the tubular styles in '66 I believe, but I'm not certain if 1800s ever had those.

Minor point, but the 1800 trans. also had the rear-set shifter extension cover, so it is NOT interchangable with a 122 without first changing cover. Its not uncommon for a 122 to be upgraded with a transm./OD from an 1800. Details have been covered here a number of times...try a search in archives.

Cheers
