CLutch cable woes 700 1985

My clutch cable keeps falling out of adjustment. I have to readjust it every other week. I even tried locking the adjuster and it still falls out of adjustment. Any ideas? More info: The clutch cable has snapped twice in the last year and a half, so something's up. I have a 1985 740 GLE, M46 tranny.
