stalling when cold a newly arrived problem 700 1989

My beloved car has recently started to stall immediately after starting, must keep it at 1000RPM until temp guage gets above first mark. then runs well. was told i had vapor lock ...added dry gas and went to 93 octane No help for problem. can anyone out there offer a suggestion?
