my car is choking 700 1986

my car is puttering a lot these days, the rpms are jumping around a lot when i come to a stop and idle, and it kicks when i accelerate through 1st and second gear. it feels like its choking on fuel or something. some times in the morning it will stall after i start it if i dont give it a lot of gas at first, once i drive its ok and doesnt stall but its pretty annoying. all i want is for my car to run smoothly again. please some body tell me what is wrong with my baby, summers here!!!
