brake warning, emergency brake, amp and oil light dont work in dash, how do i fix it 200 1979

i just got a 79 240 that doesnt run because of a bad fuel pump, but the electrical system is not working right. the previous owner said he changed the ignition switch and accidentally split the black casing the wires go into that the switch plugs into. if he did place wires in the wrong terminal, would this have an effect on the alt and oil lights? i grounded the oil pressure switch on the block and the light came on in the dash. dont know how to get to get others to work. turn signal works on the right side and buzzes when i switch to the left side. do i have a nightmare to figure all of this out or is there a simple way to correct this.
jim
