Thick gasket 120-130

In my country we have only 84 RON octane leaded gasoline, making engine pinging on my car at low speed driving with many stops on the route (local transit 40 kph). The pinging stops if I running on the highway (80 or more kph).

Due it, I am changing the head gasket in my engine (B18A) to a thick one.

IPS sells a 0.08" (0.2 mm) thick gasket for the B20 engine, but my car have a B18A engine (a small piston diameter).

Some empiral calculus report up to 2 mm (thick) for the B18A with 84 octane fuel, (local artisans can be make the gasket on any height - from 0.05 to 2 mm).

Somebody has any idea about the best height for the gasket?. All opinions are wellcome.

Joaquin
