Instrument panel lights 200 1983

I've got a couple of the indicator lights out in my instrument cluster (i.e. Turbo, Check Battery, etc.). I pulled one out to change it and I can't get the bulb out the black plastic socket! What is the trick here? I've tried depressing the slots on the sides of the socket but I still can't get the bulb loose. Any suggestions?
