power steering imbalance 200 1982

I'm just getting my 82 240 on the road after an engine transplant. I drove it 2 miles at low speed with a dry power steering fluid reservoir. After banging my head repeatedly against a concrete wall for my ineptitude, I filled and bled the system. The steering is smooth and effortless when turning left, but a moderate chore when turning right.

I know nothing about the history of the steering box, etc. as I purchased the body with no engine/tranny. The steering pump WAS in good condition prior to the transplant.

Did I toast the p.s. pump?

Is this a hydraulic imbalance from other causes that can be corrected?

All constructive comments welcome, flames will be tolerated (anti-flame gear and gallons of aloe vera gel in stock). And what the heck, I did at least have oil in the crankcase.
