Heater Hose Problems 200 1991

Hi Everybody. I discovered today that the upper heater hose in my 91' 240 with 196k has cracked, and is now leaking coolant everywhere. I've read two different ways to accomplish this repair, by removing the intake manifold, or by loosening the clamps with a long screwdriver. I was just curious if anyone else has done this repair. Which method takes less time and is less frustrating? I've already tried to attack the hose with a screwdriver, and have not had much luck. Is removing the intake manifold that difficult? Any advice or insight is appriciated. Everyone have a happy memorial day.
