Rear main seal or oil pan gasket leaking? 200 1986

Is there a definitive way to tell if the rear main seal is leaking and distinguish it from a leaking oil pan gasket?

I tought I read that the rear main seal will leave drips f oil off the lower transmision bolt. Well I have that.

But the oil pan gasket is also soaked and I can't tell if it has failed or if the oil merely has travelled onto it.

the torque converter area (above those plastic grills)is dry.

I removed the U-shaped bracket from around the rear of the oil pan and seem a little dampness, though not dripping wetness, up inside the housing above the flywheel.

What is leaking?
