SRS Light 700 1988

The SRS light turned on and now I am researching how to solve this problem. This is a 1988 740 version of the SRS and I believe it may be the first year for this system. I have tried the “fuse #24 terminal to cigarette outer ring grounding” method as describe in previous posts. The SRS light just turned off when I grounded it and stay on upon removing the ground. This car is garaged at night and the interior has to my knowledge has not ever been wet. Can anyone help me with other methods can I try?
Thanks in advance.
Jim
