Emmission and EGR? 700 1992

First of all thank you all for your continued support of this site. It's saved many of us tonnes of heart and pocket aches.

My 740 failed it's TX state emmissions test. Specifically the NOx issue.
I understand that the EGR has a role in reducing the nitorogen oxide
levels emmitted. My so far useless Haynes guide only shows were the EGR might be hidden. Can anyone direct me to better schematics? Also, would carb
cleaner be sufficient in clenaing out this EGR?
