Wierd Light problem 700 1986

I had a similar problem although it was more pronounced. The first thing I would do is to remove the dashboard cluster. You will find on the back, there is a little "box" behind the light dimmer knnob. This is actually the back of the light dimmer, itself, and has three wires coming out of the back (red, blue and black). My problem was a lose connection which was rectified by tightening the screw. (They all looked tight too). Anyway, I would start there with a screwdriver on the head of the three screws, not just by looking. If you don't find one that needs tightening, I would suggest swapping out the dimmer entirely. I still have my spare from the junkyard gage cluster I got to repair an unrelated broblem.
